Police officers

Police officers will be present at almost every crime scene, they are mainly there as enforcers The police will help cordon off the crime scene and help keep it maintained from the public, they have to stop the public and media from trying to enter the crime scene so that the scene is left in tact with no contamination. With many police officers at the scene they may be able to catch and arrest a suspect or possible suspect that may be trying to flee the scene, for example in many arson cases the arsonist tens to stay at the scene to see what they have accomplished, if police officers are present they may be able to arrest them if there is anything suspicious. Police officers may also be required to answer any of the media's questions and may be needed to release a statement to the public about the current situation. Another main reason why the police are present at the crime scene is he overall help that it brings, with multiple police officers present they can speed up the process in order to maintain a good investigation.

Fire investigation:


In terms of a fire investigation the police play a very important role so that the crime scene can be preserved. It is the job of the police officers to help secure the scene off to the general public, if the fire is occurring the the police will not want any civilians entering as it would be very safe and they could seriously hurt themselves and if the fire has already occurred then the police will be trying to protect any evidence. If the police were to let anyone walk straight onto the crime scene they could potentially destroy or contaminate any incriminating evidence, however that is not the only reason that the police stop people from entering the crime scene it is also because the building may be very unstable as the foundations may have been severely burnt. The police are also there to try and control the press from entering the scene as the press will always want to try and get the be pictures/updates, they would also prevent the press from entering the crime scene and try and hold them off from printing incorrect information as the press tend to exaggerate however instead they would give true statements of what happened so that an accurate account could be published. The policemen also have to keep an eye on the people waiting at the crime scene, this is because it is well known that arsonists like to stay around at the scene to watch what they have created but arsonists have also been known to act the 'hero' being the one to call 999 etc. The last small role that police officers have is to basically aid the ambulances and the people present, if there has been a fire there may be victims and injured people that need help therefore the police have to do all they can in a effort to assist people needs. The police force are very beneficial to the fire investigation because they can provide a huge aid when the investigation has just begun. One of most important parts of a fire scene (in fact any scene) is to try and protect and preserve any possible evidence that could be later used in the investigation and in court, the police are there to make sure that this evidence stays secure. One of the many benefits is that they have many roles so they can cover a huge amount of tasks very easily, even the little things like crowd control which the other agencies have no time for and without the crowd being controlled there are multiple dangers and risks associated.
